Sometimes, in fact often, babies wander around in the class, crawling or walking. I always state at the beginning of the term and in the literature I send out at the beginning that this is to be expected. Babies are naturally inquisitive and want to look around at everything and everyone. But they enjoy the music wherever they are in the room, and the social aspect is just as much fun to them. Babies are at Sing and Sign not to learn (radical statement!) but to HAVE FUN. This is one of the many Sing and Sign differences. So, it is typical and often happens. Unfortunately, as parents, we mistakenly assume that because of this inquisitiveness, or because they are not looking at the teacher all the time, they are not fully engaged with the class. It is so easy to fall into this way of thinking and it's no one's fault. But 99 times out of 100, (and having taught Sing and Sign to thousands of babies over 8 or 9 years now I can categorically state that!) it's just the case that everything is sinking in; slowly but surely. And all of a sudden, you and your baby experience an explosion of communication, via signs, spoken words or both. Unfortunately, by the time fruits of all your signing efforts at home and in the class ricochet into view, (often over the summer, winter, or spring break)and you suddenly realise that this little being has so much to tell you, not just about what he's seen in the way of cats and birds, but about how he is feeling, or where it hurts, and how much he enjoys the songs on the dvd and cd (that have lately been driving you utterly mad); and you decide you really want to come back for your next term, there are no places left! Trust, however, that I will keep you on the waiting list and faithfully let you know if any place becomes available. Do talk to others on the course and read through all the testimonies I have uploaded on to this blog, to help you decide about re-booking. I hate to turn people away; I love all your babies and my job so much, but it's just lil ole me and i can only teach 13 classes a week. And it's funny, I got Manisha's email yesterday and a call from another mum saying exactly the same thing! xx

Dear Angelina
Please could you contact me if a place on you Saturday stage two class becomes available? I deeply regret not enrolling him onto stage two when it became available towards the middle of the term, this was partly because at the time it seemed to me that he was not fully appreciating the class. I soon came to realise that actually he absolutely loves sing and sign and can't get enough of it but unfortunately all the places have now been booked.
Kind Regards Manisha
