Good Morning Angelina,

Thanks for the email. Unfortunately RĂ³ise and I will be unable to attend the Christmas class as I am back to work :-(

I just want to say thank you so much for everything, we really enjoyed it!

Clodagh
Dear Angelina,

Thank you for the amusing email - did make me chuckle - sounds like a hoot and I just know Sienna will love it as her first experience of sing and sign classes has been a big hit!!

Please could I reserve a Jessie cat and DVD to collect next week.

Appreciate the effort of organising the Christmas party and really looking forward to it!

Joanna and Sienna xx
We came to Sing and Sign when my little girl was 16 months old. I only wished that we had started a little bit earlier because it was such a great class and we were able to integrate so much of it in our daily life. The classes are very accessible, and you don't feel like your singing skills are under the microscope. The added song integration makes this an enjoyable class for everyone because while you can focus on acquiring and using the signs, you child can follow along with the song and "actions". The CD is on almost constant loop in the car and amazingly does not have me climbing the walls even after the 20th time of the day. In fact the CD is so good that we have even been requested to buy it for friends who do not come to the class. We have both enjoyed learning a new skill together and although we have only done Stage 2 (twice) I would absolutely recommend this class. My little girl is very talkative and I think that a signing class has added to and enhanced her ability to communicate, and given us another dimension to playing with language.

Thank you!

RACHEL ROBINSON
Hi Angelina,
I would love to keep [the certificate] as a memento from such an amazing stage of their lives where thanks to you and Jessie they are managing to express themselves through signs with no frustration!

Thank you so much for everything!

Also, if you have the bedtime and potty books to sell I would love to get them, as it will help me on the plane when I go on holidays for X-mas!!! It is better than calpol!!!

Thank you and see you on Sat!!

Kind regards,

Fabiana
Hi Angelina,

Thanks for your emails. Unfortunately Habeeb and I won’t be able to come to the Christmas party class as we have family commitments that day. Which is a real shame as he loves your classes and I was looking forward to the Christmas singalong!

I hope that you have a restful break and look forward to seeing you in January.

Safia.
Angelina,

Please could you reserve me a place on your stage 1 (10:30 am) class at Mill End, Rickmansworth starting after Easter. I am not sure you will remember me but I attended your Mill End classes with my first daughter Erin. She loved it and I believe it really helped her language development. Therefore I would like to bring my second daughter Evie.

Many thanks

Hello Angelina,

I recently picked up a leaflet about your SIng and Sign classes and my best friend highly recommended me to you as both her girls learnt how to sign through your classes. I've met both of their Jessy Cats too!

9 Nov 2011
... And could Chloe please have a Jessie cat! She loves seeing her on the video and she's mad on soft toys and I think she'll love having her around all the time! ...

Lots of love

Angelina your class is Mia's (and my) favourite thing in our week. Really. If you haven't collected recent feedback, you should do now because i'm sure many people feel the same and you are doing a fantastic job > its very easy to just "be " there with you and our babies and doesn't feel like a class although we are learning so much. You're doing a fantastic job x

Hi Angelina

I'm not sure if you remember me but my name is Talie Harrison and my son, Harry and I attended your stage 2 class at the beginning of the year before we left to move to Italy. Well we are back now and I have a new addition to the family. Bruno is 5 months old. I understand he is a bit young to attend the course at the moment but Harry enjoyed it so much that I'm really eager to get Bruno on the next course. So if I could get our names on the waiting list for the stage 1 I would really appreciate it .
Harry didn't do a lot of signing at the class but once we got to Milan he used so much of it it really surprised us. He even had his own little signs.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards

Hi Angelina
Hope you're well and enjoyed your half term break.

I'm sorry we missed the last couple of classes. Sophia was sick one week and we had my parents visiting from Sydney the other (they were very impressed with Sophia's signing and general communication skills by the way!).

I counted the number of signs Sophia is using now -23! And she is also saying 10 words :) it's really lovely to be able to communicate with her so much.

Anyway, I know I put a DVD on order with you so I will bring some money for that on Tuesday. I just wondered whether you have any spare Christmas DVDs by any chance? If so could I have one?

Thanks

Famous for 15 minutes...

So if you are coming to Sing and Sign tomorrow in Harrow, beware... I mean be wearing: MAKE UP! Got a call today from a researcher at Daybreak (latter-day GMTV) asking if they could come and interview my mummies on what it's like to be a mother of a young baby. So I said, "Yeah! Come on down!". So they said they would, at 10.30 to film during the break. Not sure if they will stay for second break at 11.30 but they might. So, wear concealer, look fab (you always do - never drab -) and with plenty to say (Stage 2s, too!) XXX

Hi Angelina,

I wanted to reiterate how much J enjoyed the class and how well he is doing as a result. The other night he signed to me that his teeth were hurting and when I asked if he wanted medicine he did the yes sign and after I had given him the medicine he went off to sleep!

J was born very ill and had to be resussitated and spent a long time in Special Care. He had lots of seizures and some brain damage. His consultants and speech therapists have all said how important it is to carry on his signing as the part of the brain that was damaged was the part that controls speech and they think he will have learning difficulties. We did previously go to a sign and rhyme class in another area but both him and me preferred your class!

Hope you can help,

Thanks S.

Sometimes, in fact often, babies wander around in the class, crawling or walking. I always state at the beginning of the term and in the literature I send out at the beginning that this is to be expected. Babies are naturally inquisitive and want to look around at everything and everyone. But they enjoy the music wherever they are in the room, and the social aspect is just as much fun to them. Babies are at Sing and Sign not to learn (radical statement!) but to HAVE FUN. This is one of the many Sing and Sign differences. So, it is typical and often happens. Unfortunately, as parents, we mistakenly assume that because of this inquisitiveness, or because they are not looking at the teacher all the time, they are not fully engaged with the class. It is so easy to fall into this way of thinking and it's no one's fault. But 99 times out of 100, (and having taught Sing and Sign to thousands of babies over 8 or 9 years now I can categorically state that!) it's just the case that everything is sinking in; slowly but surely. And all of a sudden, you and your baby experience an explosion of communication, via signs, spoken words or both. Unfortunately, by the time fruits of all your signing efforts at home and in the class ricochet into view, (often over the summer, winter, or spring break)and you suddenly realise that this little being has so much to tell you, not just about what he's seen in the way of cats and birds, but about how he is feeling, or where it hurts, and how much he enjoys the songs on the dvd and cd (that have lately been driving you utterly mad); and you decide you really want to come back for your next term, there are no places left! Trust, however, that I will keep you on the waiting list and faithfully let you know if any place becomes available. Do talk to others on the course and read through all the testimonies I have uploaded on to this blog, to help you decide about re-booking. I hate to turn people away; I love all your babies and my job so much, but it's just lil ole me and i can only teach 13 classes a week. And it's funny, I got Manisha's email yesterday and a call from another mum saying exactly the same thing! xx

Dear Angelina
Please could you contact me if a place on you Saturday stage two class becomes available? I deeply regret not enrolling him onto stage two when it became available towards the middle of the term, this was partly because at the time it seemed to me that he was not fully appreciating the class. I soon came to realise that actually he absolutely loves sing and sign and can't get enough of it but unfortunately all the places have now been booked.
Kind Regards Manisha

Starting w/c 12 September

New term starts next week! I'm so excited to be back in Sing and Sign heaven! Just a few places left; won't you join the fun?

Hi Angelina

I hope you're enjoying your summer break.

I have some exciting news! Sophia has added more signs to her repertoire of signs! She does them (mostly) in the right context and with meaning. I don't know if you remember but she started with 'milk' towards the end of our first term. She now also does more, hat, tired, her version of train (we live very close to the station so hear the trains all the time) and open and shut! It's a-ma-zing!! At first I was a little sceptical but I am now a believer her grandparents were sceptical too when I was telling them about it, until they saw it for themselves! Sophia gets really excited when she can see i understand her especially when she gets more fruit or more games when she asks for them! I am really hoping she will start using even more signs now.

I put my name down on the waiting list for the 10.30 class at mill end and on the list for 11.30. I would prefer the 10.30 class as Sophia sleeps at 11.30 so would be quite grumpy if we went for the later class. Are you able to tell me if we are in the 10.30 class? I haven't paid yet as I thought I would need confirmation of our place first. Or does it work the other way around??

Thanks and regards

Ourania

Hi Angelina,
Hope you're enjoying this beautiful weather. Kitty and I have been having a great time in the sprinkler and paddling pool, not sure who loves it more!

We have loved coming to your classes so much and will miss you greatly.

You've been, not so much a breath of fresh air but a blast of fresh air each week and we've both enjoyed learning so much from your classes. Kitty's speech is coming on amazingly well and people always comments on her talking. I tell them it's all down to Sing and Sign. I will never forget the day she realised she was able to communicate. It was and electric moment when she signed 'bird' and was thrilled that I understood her. It made the hairs on my neck stand up as it was so magical. So much more exciting than when she first walked. In fact I can't even remember when that was- Bad Mum! But those early days signing were just wonderful and she's gone from strength to strength. I can't thank you enough for all your brilliant advice, constant enthusiasm and inspiring stories. We will miss you greatly.
Many thanks

Wednesday, 13 July 2011

This is a testimonial I received recently by a mum who joined Sing and Sign when her baby was at Stage 2 age. (She didn't attend stage 1 first.)

Dear Angelina,

I just wanted to say thank you so much for a wonderful time at Sing and Sign. The sessions were entertaining, made even more so with various humorous actions.
As the group sizes were not too big, it gave us the parents ample opportunity to interact with each other. I feel the various signs and nursery rhymes have helped Riya develop so fast in terms of her speech and extensive use of words. This particular class stands out because of the energy and the enthusiasm you display during the sessions. I will be coming back with my second one!

Kind regards

Baby London Magazine

http://www.babylondon.co.uk/
Here's another one for you - less local, more Londoncentric. It also has a really good section every issue on travelling with little ones.

Check out the FamiliesNW Magazine Website

http://www.familiesonline.co.uk/LOCATIONS/London-North-West

Loads of info on this fab magazine website. You can also read the latest issue (don't miss "Mummy on the Edge" a regular column written by yours truly). You may have seen the magazine around at the library, doc's surgery or wherever and it's really worth picking up. I give it out to my Sing and Signers. It's great to have a magazine which is packed with local ideas and listings, as well as useful guidance and info.
Hi Angelina

This is Anna Freedman, you probably don't remember me but I came with my daughter Louisa about 4 years ago to your Stanmore class...and loved it!!  Well there is an addition to our family and now we have George! I have just been on your website & booked for September.  I am so excited about it that I wanted to email you to say hi. Louisa has already asked if she can come to! Believe it or not she still likes to listen to the CD in the car.

Anyway I hope you and mini-me are well and George & I really look forward to seeing you again ...and of course Jessie Cat.

Take care & have a great summer

Hi Angelina

Thanks for your email.  Just wanted to say that Shriya and I love coming to sing and sign each week.  Shriya now loves you and especially loves Jessie Cat!!  She gets excited as soon as we pull into the car park.

Shriya mainly enjoys the singing part of class, and I love doing the songs with her at home.  It’s amazing to see her start splashing in the bath when I sing “splishy splashy”, or calm down instantly when I start singing the lullaby song.  All in all, the associations Shriya has learned in class have really come in handy at home.  The songs immediately cheer her up when she’s sad or calm her down when she’s fraught.

The icing on the cake was your performance at Shriya’s birthday party in June...all the other kids loved it and it was the perfect surprise for Shriya.  Unfortunately my two brothers were the designated photographers, and sadly no one got any good shots L  But we will remember the day forever.

Can’t wait till next term!

It’s a pleasure.  You have no idea how much joy your classes give us J

Hi Angelina,

Joel and I have really enjoyed our first term of sing and sign. It has really helped him with his communication and he uses quite a few signs at home now. I tried to sign up for next term but it wouldn't let me and said waiting list only. I tried to do it the day after last week's lesson and was sad it was already full. We were on holiday the week before that so I hadn't had access to emails. If there is any way that Joel can do next term too then I can pay straight away and we would both really love to. By the end of the year I'll have a new baby so won't be as easy to do the January term instead.

Thanks and looking forward to tomorrow's lesson.

Getting organised for September

Hello All!
I'm feeling very proud of myself because I managed to get into this blog by retyping the password only about 5 times instead of the usual 10 and did not need to click the "forgotten password" button. Yay me!

Also because I have opened bookings for September (click here to book your space!) AND because I have copied and pasted a few more testimonials from my "nice emails" folder on here.Do click on them to read what real people say about my classes. Slowly, steadily, I will catch up with everything.

This week on the course is our Chatterbox Challenge in aid of ICAN the childrens communication charity!

Taken from the I CAN website http://www.ican.org.uk/
Do you know over one million children in the UK struggle to communicate?
Being able to speak, use language and communicate with others is one of the basic necessities for happiness and success. I CAN works to support the development of speech, language and communication skills in all children with a special focus on those who find this hard: children with speech, language and communication needs.

I hope everyone brings or wears something to do with jungle animals. Or any animals. I'm going to hope that I fit into my daughter's t-shirt which has a monkey on it.

Happy signing! x

Hi Angelina!

I used to bring Jasper to Sing and Sign with you about 2 / 3 years ago. He really loved it and still loves watching the DVDs and singing along (now) to the CDs! It was a great class and really beneficial.
I now have baby number two and would love her to come to Sing and Sign. Her name is Serena. She was born on xxxxxxxxxx, 2010.

Would you happen to have any spaces on your baby class on a Thursday at 10.30am in Bushey (Sacred Heart church)? It will usually be my mum who brings her along.

I'm not sure of the cost and payment procedure.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

That was easy peasy. Gonna do more more! How do I get Twitter to join in? Hmm. Maybe I should clean my house first.

A new day; a new dawn.

Okay. I've been a bit rubbish on the whole blogging thing. The idea was for me to put all the nice comments here that people write about my classes and also to wow you with my witty apercu but the fact is I'm the wrong combination of busy and lazy. And also I have a poor memory so I keep forgetting my password and it's such a mission trying to retrieve it everytime I think of something to say! Anyway. I remember it now. That's what counts, right? So I'm going to put a comment on here from my library of emails TODAY and hopefully start a habit. Let's see: which to choose. Okay. I'm not going to put it in as today. I'm going to put them in under the dates I received them. Do you think that will work? And tag them as "Testimonial". Whaddya reckon? Gotta do it quickly as I have to pick up my kid from camp in a minuten. Here goes.

Hi Angelina,

It's Liz Walker here. Ella did Sing and Sign with you a couple of years ago and loved it! We now have another little one (Rose) who is just 6 months and would really love her to start singing and signing with you in September. Knowing how popular your classes are (and rightly so!) I was wondering if there was already a waiting list for your Friday Harrow class for September? If so can I add Rose to it.

I am so excited about coming back to Sing and Sign - your classes brightened up my Sat mornings no end!

All the best,
Liz

Angelina,

He loves sing and sign and responds really well to it at home. If he is cross or upset at me I just sign what we are doing or about to do and he laughs at me and smiles! I know it won't be long before he signs to me.

See you next term, we're coming on Wednesdays.

Aaargh!

Okay. This blog thing. I thought it was a good idea when I started it. I see that I've written some kind of stuff about it changing my life. Yes. If it doesn't take me half an hour to gain access to it because I've forgotten the password because I haven't been on it for so long. My own fault. Anyway. In between Facebook, groups, page and business page and blogs, not to mention twitter which I haven't touched since setting up an account in I don't know whose name, one day I will figure this online communication thing out. In the mean time, there is the Whatson4littleones awards for which I have apparently been nominated. For what, I cannot quite figure out but I'm choosing to believe it's for my quirky sense of personal style (any mismatched socks that I can locate in the dark drawer), that joie de vivre that I exude every morning (maniacal grin - don't scare the children) and my unerring ability to provide tea and coffee with sugar to those that don't want it and without it to those that do.
The point of this blog was for it to be a place for people to write nice things about Sing and Sign so that other people could go on it and read them. However, when you look at the blog, you don't automatically see the nice comments because they are hidden under "comments" which you have to click. Are you following? So, if you are here looking for nice comments, please know that there are plenty, if you click. One day when I find time or find a minion, or feel able to trust 9 year old mini-me with the task under the pretext of information-technology practice (they don't call it that now do they??) I will get around to transferring the comments from "Comments" to a main blog bit. And also all the zillions of emails I have stored in a folder on my laptop called "nice emails". AND I will transcribe all the hand written letters and cards. No. That will never happen will it? Let's start with baby steps, if you will pardon the pun. First I will reply to the zillions of enquiries in my inbox and invite everyone to the taster sessions happening from next week. Breathe.

Hi Angelina

I'm not sure if you remember me (probably not)  but I used to bring my eldest son to your classes back in 2008 to the Stamore and Pinner classes Mayan Mistry, I have resently had my second son Neal and he will be 5 months old on the 17th Jan and I was wondering when we are able to group your classes.  I was interested in the Rickmasnworth classes as we have moved from Harrow I'm so glad that you do the classes in Rickmansworth.  I look forward to hearing from as we are keen for Neal to do the classes as it really helped Mayan with his development.

Kind regards

Hi Angelina

My oldest daughter Hannah loved doing ‘Sing and Sign’ and I am really keen to start my youngest daughter Charlotte who is 8 months doing Sing and Sign. Her sister will be going to nursery in the mornings soon so I will be able to do a class at St George’s Church on a Friday morning (my only day off work). When does the next term start and is it too early to put my name down?

Many Thanks

Rebecca

Hi Angelina,

Hopefully you have received the e-mail I sent earlier today?

Unfortunately work still haven't let me know which days I will be working when I return in Feb. We are therefore going to be unable to take the place we had provisionally booked before Christmas.  Sorry we can't take the place and thanks for the wonderful classes we attended last year, Annabel and I really enjoyed them.

Best wishes
Becky
Hi Angelina,

I would like to enquire about signing up for the summer term at Rickmansworth.  I came with my daughter Amelie in 2007 - 2009 & would like to enrol with my son Harry who will be about 10 months around the term starting in April.  Could you please let me know if there will be any spaces for this term & dates etc as this was the most valuable class I attended & would therefore like to sign up with Harry.

Many thanks

Karen Brooker
Happy New Year Angelina
I hope you and your daughter are well.
I can see that you are still keeping yourself very busy.
Alexander is such a big boy now.  He is talking up a storm...thanks to 'Sing and Sign!'
Please stay in touch.
Big hug from Alexander,
Alexis
